The Crazy Lady Tree - Our Beloved Arbutus

What secret letters did you hold
and now have cast to the ground
curled and forgotten?

Our local Cowichan First Nations call her the "Crazy Lady Tree"

because

She Sheds Her Coat In Winter,

Loses Her Leaves in the Spring

Flowers and Produces Berries in Late Autumn

Then Leafs At the Onset of Winter..

Her stark beauty was highlighted against the dark cedars and firs as I walked through Providence Farmland this afternoon, begging my camera to take her picture.

So I did.

Blessings of quiet forest walks to all who read this.
Shanti
